How To Become A Yoga Teacher In No Time At All

In our fast-paced world we feel there is a shortage of time; we feel pressured for time. This intense feeling pushes us to want to accomplish goals through more efficient systems. Faster tracks for the athlete result in faster speeds.

Yoga instructor training courses too are becoming more and more intense and are delivered in a wide variety of formats and hours: online, in-person, and a combination of the two. There are yoga instructor trainings delivered in less than 50 hours and no doubt with a certificate; and this is ideal for some people. Other training organizations offer Yoga Teacher Certification programs with a minimum of 500 hours.

The industry standard is 200 hours. It is set by the standards body called Yoga Alliance which approves the curriculum of registered schools. The curriculum must cover 5 topics and must include at least 30 hours of Yoga Philosophy, Lifestyle and Ethics. The standards offer a "consistent approach conducive to depth, rather than merely breadth, of topics and approaches".

There are also different styles of Yoga; some more traditional, like Vinyasaand some modern like Hot. Here are a few more styles:

Gentle

Will be gentle on the body, though dynamic and vibrant. Classes include breathing techniques, warm-ups and basic postures to increase the mind-body connection, self-awareness and self-confidence.

Fitness

A newer expression designed to incorporate traditional yoga postures in a format common to most fitness clubs. Classes include warm-ups and cool downs with more strenuous postures. They especially tone the core.

Flows

An invigorating practice. Postures are linked in a flow and provide some aerobic components while also improving strength and coordination.

Therapeutic

Yoga therapy is the adaptation and application of yoga practices and techniques to help those facing health challenges to manage conditions, increase vitality, reduce symptoms, restore balance, and improve attitude.

You may already practice your favorite style. If you are considering becoming a yoga teacher the style you practice might be different from the style you want to teach. You may enjoy a vigorous Ashtanga practice and wish to teach yoga to seniors. That is fine.

Becoming a yoga teacher is a great way to learn more about a topic. Once you have successfully completed the course you will sigh when you finally receive that certificate you longed for, be it 50 hours or 500 hours. It will actually be in "no time at all" because your discovery of yoga will have only just begun.
